PBEM Orlantia
Campaign 2002
TIME LINE (PROLOGUE)
These events lead up to the opening of the story. They are a brief synopsis of what each PC did immediately prior to the beginning of the game. These items merely allude to each character's back-story, which was written in greater detail elsewhere, but is not generally available for public consumption.
728 A.E. Spring.
Sefarlain Anluvior spends his time traveling along the northern coastline of the Imperial Continent, usually traveling by ship, hopping from ship to ship as he makes his way north and east.
Mystir Kintel Cyndular continues his studies near Kioset.
Afyanna d'Enthril is still in service in the cavalry division of the Marching Alderami.
Willie-John (Cosher) McLean and the Exador arrive in Harborton, capital city of Magnus' kingdom. They work during an unseasonably hot spring.
Valin Quenthal and his family escape from their difficulties on the planet Ahlalandia, and immigrate to the planet Orlantia, hoping to make a fresh start, and for reasons of security. They travel from the city of Alodar to the city of Handor and make their home there. Once settled, Valin's superiors send him back to Alodar where he is assigned to Messenger's Temple, one of handful of temples in Alodar that are dedicated to Hermes.
Tyrulf Malgrim Tellsomro is still in BlithenOre with his adopted family.
After wintering in Pedas working as an herbalist, Jahar helped Bebe get a position on the Wavedancer as a cook/assistant medical officer. They were trying to work passage to the Runic Coast.
The Stoneprow winters in Pedas Harbor. Jahar gains release from his contract to Captain Owain Stoneprow. He reunites with an old friend, Bebe the gnome. He finds a new contract working on the Wavedancer.
Alana returns from her last journey to Katana and tries to return to her usual routine. She finds a small abandoned kitten she names Lucian. After a difficult beginning, Lucian starts to accept the bottle food Alana provides for him and she is confident she will be able to save him.
728 A.E. Summer.
By the time Sefarlain reaches the Runic Coast, he is virtually broke, so he takes to the land and continues on foot, exploring the countryside while living off the land, and slowly making his way south and east.
Mystir sets out from his home in Kioset, heading south until he reaches the coast. From there, he spends the next few months traveling along the coast, hopping various trading vessels, and touching on a handful of villages mostly bordering the eastern shores of the Imperial Gulf.
Afyanna is still in service in the cavalry division of the Marching Alderami.
Cosher works aboard the Exador through one of the hottest summers he can recall. Life aboard a cargo ship bites under those conditions.
Valin Quenthal remains at Messenger's Temple, checking daily to see if any from Ahlalandia have followed him to Orlantia. So far, no one shows up. He continues to learn the ways of Hermes.
Tyrulf is still in BlithenOre with his adopted family.
Bebe spent an exciting summer sailing on the Wavedancer. She sailed the entire Larns Archipelago, island hopping with Jahar and taking in the exotic sites and sounds of the world.
At this time, a tour of duty through the Larns Archipelago is where Jahar gained his now trademark tattoos.
It becomes increasingly clear that Alana doesn't fit in with her community anymore. Lucian is no longer dependent on bottle food, and as he grows up Alana finds herself amazed at his abilities and intelligence. At the end of the summer, Alana decides it's time to leave.
728 A.E. Fall.
Sefarlain Anluvior continues from hamlet to hamlet, making his way south and east.
Mystir ends up in Tarren by fall's end, so far disappointed he has discovered nothing of great interest.
Afyanna's time of service is up, and she travels home to Liothele. An accident causes a dam to break, and during the crisis, Corellon Larethian 'touches' her soul and imbues her with holy power. With it, she was able to save lives that would otherwise have been lost.
Cosher works aboard the Exador through one of the hottest autumns he can recall. Life aboard a cargo ship bites only slightly less under those conditions than it did the previous summer.
Valin is sent to deliver letters and documents to the Tarren Kingdom. He travels aboard the A.I.V. Raven. Once there, instead of being allowed to go home, he is asked to stay on as a liaison between Messenger's Temple - in Alodar - and the Tarren Kingdom, at the behest of Queen Bethany Tarren. He thus spends the winter in Tarren at the castle, caring for the interests of Hermes and the chapel to Hermes within the castle.
Tyrulf sets off on his mission of personal exploration. Having gotten a late start, he does not get too far before he is forced to winter in the Dwarven Dominion. Short on funds, he hires on to mine iron ore for his upkeep.
Towards the end of fall, Bebe took the longest single sea voyage of her life while on the Wavedancer. She began to have disturbing dreams about Ehlonna being displeased that Bebe was taking too long a respite from the forest. When the ship finally landed on the Runic Coast in late fall, Bebe was all too happy to bid the Wavedancer ado.
Jahar's contract aboard the Wavedancer terminated early due to lack of work. With Bebe, Jahar travels to the Dwarven Dominion with thoughts of lucrative Dwarven trade and contracts.
After a splendid farewell from friends and family, Alana departs from her hometown. She delights in her travels and so does Lucian.
728 A.E. Winter.
Winter comes early this year - more than 30 days early - and it's brutal.
Sefarlain is taken by surprise and is forced to seek shelter. The only shelter available is a cave already occupied by a bear. After a fierce battle, he wins, though he is forced to spend most of the winter recuperating within this meager shelter since the outside weather is so brutal, he would probably die if he ventured forth.
Mystir is stopped short on his quest, and unable to travel back home to Kioset when Zephyr Bay unexpectedly freezes over, something it normally does not do at all, let alone so early. He is forced to take up temporary residence in The Copper Keg, obtaining a small room for the winter at a reasonable rate.
Afyanna ponders her place in the great scheme of things, and wonders what her Lord expects of her, now that he has 'blessed' her and counts her amongst His chosen.
Cosher and the Exador run out of work in Harborton. Unable to procure more, the captain decides it's time to sail north and for home. The crew is grateful.
Valin Quenthal administers to the small congregation of worshipers of Hermes connected to the royal court of Tarren. He is slightly depressed at the low numbers, but they all are very important people in the royal court.
Tyrulf finishes his stint as a miner in the Dominion, and hires on to guard a shipment of iron ore bound for Tarren.
The Dominion was not what Bebe expected. The dwarves were less than cordial to her and the stories of the wondrous halls and piles of wealth were not realized for her. Soon she was regretting ever leaving home. As the harsh winter fully grasped the realm, work became more and more scarce and grungy. Bebe decided to take her leave of the Kingdom as soon as the weather broke.
Work is scarce. The Dominion fails to live up to the ideas in Jahar's mind, so along with Bebe, they make their way out of the Dominion into the village of Fecklar.
Foreseeing that a hash winter will make traveling difficult, Alana is forced to seek shelter in inns along the road for longer periods of time. She happens upon the Lovejoys and spends considerable time with them.
And So Our Story Begins . . .
